Miller Children’s Hospital is one of 22 hospitals in California to feature a Level III NICU–the highest designation available from the State. In order to receive this designation, the unit must meet strict state regulatory criteria to provide the necessary care for very sick infants who need immediate surgery, or who weigh less than two pounds. The babies and their families are supported by many professionals who specialize in the care of neonates. Continuous care from board certified/eligible neonatologists, registered nurses (RNs) and registered respiratory therapists (RRTs) is provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This specialized team uses state-of-the-art technology to treat their tiny patients, resulting in one of the highest risk-adjusted survival rates.
The Opportunity
Seeking experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to ensure the provision of progressive, cost effective quality patient care by advancing the level of nursing practice through expert practice, education, consultation, research and leadership. Primary responsibilities are to provide clinical expertise to direct the nursing process within the Neo-Natal Intensive Care (NICU) population on behalf of the patient and family; provide mentoring, coaching and collaboration to advance evidence nursing practice; and collaborate throughout the organization to identify opportunities and implement strategies to support clinical innovation.
Qualifications
§ A minimum (3) three years experience as a level III Neo-Natal Intensive Care (NICU) Registered Nurse required.
§ Current license to practice as a RN in California required.
§ Certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) by the State of California required.
§ Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) required.
§ Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Neo-Natal Resuscitation Program (RNP) certifications required.
