DEA to Furnish Pharmaceuticals
Must have UPIN which requires a Masters Degree in Nursing and National Certification from one of the following organizations: American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; American Credentialing Center; National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses.

POSITION SUMMARY:
QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Minimum 2 years experience as RNP in inpatient/outpatient pediatric setting.
2) Minimum 1 year experience as RNP in Neurosurgery
3) Ability to:
Conduct daily rounds and document patient care orders
Perform evaluative consults with physicians & other health care providers
Read & evaluate laboratory reports & radiology studies
Manage surgical problems within scope of practice
Perform therapeutic procedures as outlined in the Delineation of Privileges
4) Ability to make independent decisions following California Laws & Regulations.
5) Highest level of customer focused service with patients, members, physicians, and staff.
6) Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
7) Excellent attendance & "Meets/Exceeds" standards on Performance Appraisal done within the past year.
8) Ability to carry out all functional & environmental requirements as outlined in the job descption. Prolonged standing, walking, and use of hands with ability to lift and move patients.
9) Willingness to work in a smoke free environment & completion of employee health requirements.
10) Nurse Practitioners who do not meet the MQs are encouraged to apply and their applications will be reviewed on a case by case basis. .

DUTIES:
- Telephone consultation with families for new, recurrent, and ongoing neurosurgical issues, including regular follow-up calls as requested by MD
- Initial discussion and triage of patients with new symptoms
- Routine postoperative concerns
- Lab result review (under direction by MD)
- Imaging review (under direction by MD
- Coordination and communication with outside providers for outside referrals.
- Facilitate timely scheduling in clinic for patients with acute problems
- Liaison between outside providers and KP families in order to maintain smooth referral process and continuity of care.
- Coordination of various studies prior to Pediatric Neurosurgery consultation appointments (MRI, CT, ultrasound).
- Performing preoperative history and physicals
- Assist with clinical management of neurosurgical inpatients at Roseville Women and Children's Hospital
- Ordering DME and following up with DME department as needed.
- Communication with CCS, particularly regarding non-compliant patients.
- Filling out various incoming forms
- FMLA
- Medication forms
- Camp forms
- Writing and sending out various letters for school, daycare, etc.
- Diagnosis statement
- Treatment plans
- PE/Physical Ed clearance
- Maintaining patient panel (Access).
- Following up with non-compliant families.
- Tracking down miscellaneous results from within KP and outside.
- Tracking medical record requests, outside referrals.
- Communication with counterparts in satellite clinics for coordination and continuity of care.
