Women's Health Nurse Practitioner


To provide quality patient care including exams, treatment, education, and counseling for patients in accordance with Agency protocols.
To serve as a medical resource for other licensed and non-licensed staff.


Responsibilities:
-Oversee and maintain responsibility for nursing services.
-Be familiar with and comply at all times to written medical protocols.
-Perform examinations for initial and returning family planning patients.
-Prescribe contraceptives and medications under standing order.
-Screen medical problems.
-Counsel clients in reproductive health issues.
-Diagnose and treat vaginal and urinary tract infections, STI's, pelvic inflammatory disease, and simple anemia.
-Perform examinations and treat STI's in male clients.
-Perform microscopic studies of urine and vaginal discharge as needed.
-Fit diaphragms, cervical caps, cervical rings and administer DMPA injections.
-Insert and remove IUDs as needed.
-Perform microscopic sperm checks (pos/neg only) for post vasectomy clients.
-Perform pre-operative examinations for clients requesting tubal ligation.
-Dispense medications and assist with labeling of drugs.
-Responsible for follow up of all irregular lab results and outside referrals in compliance with medical protocols.


Skills / Requirements
-California Clinician License
-Nurse Practitioner, preferably with specialty in women's health care, or Certified Nurse Midwife or Physician Assistant.
-Some women's health care experience preferred.
-Must have a CPR card or willingness to obtain one within 60 days of employment.
-Demonstrated proficiency in Windows environment and the Internet.
-Must have the willingness and ability to adapt to change including advances in technology.
-Must be comfortable working in a paperless environment including the electronic management of all patient information.
-Ability to provide care to a minimum of 3-4 patients an hour.
-Must have excellent customer service skills and be committed to providing the highest level of customer satisfaction.
