The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner demonstrates leadership behavior, professional responsibility, accountability and independent judgment in the performance of advanced neonatal nursing practice. This is a part-time 2y/per diem position, providing 24-hr coverage.
Responsibilities and duties include the following.
- Provides clinical leadership, wound clinical judgment and skill to assure that a high quality of care is maintained for neonates and infants in-house and/or neonatal transports
- Assesses, plans, initiates, delivers and evaluates appropriate advanced nursing practice for care/treatment of neonate/infant
- Collaborates with other health care provider in determining the appropriate health care for the patient and prescribing a medical treatment regimen under the direct supervision of licensed neonatologist
- Provides teaching and counseling about the patient's health to the parents or responsible caregiver
- Supervises, teaches, and evaluates those who perform nursing functions, administers nursing programs and nursing services
- Responsible for the treatment and pharmaceutical regimen for the patient with consultation of the neonatologist
- Provides for the maintenance of safe and effective nursing care whether directly or indirectly
