Description Position Summary: The CNS functions autonomously and in collaboration with the health care team in advanced clinical practice, education, consultation, research and leadership roles. The CNS will be responsible for improving clinical performance in critical care areas including but not limited to skill gap analysis of staff/peer review, high level assessment skills, monitoring skills, emergency response and multidisciplinary case studies. The Education Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) exemplifies professional nursing practice through expert education, consultation, research, and management activities. The Education CNS participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Education Plan. In a collaborative manner, the CNS participates in design, implementation, and evaluation of new programs, projects and systems. Coordinates preceptor education. Facilitates charge nurse education. The CNS facilitates and coordinates the planning, implementation and evaluation of the competency program. Fosters utilization and conduct of clinical research. The CNS provides consultation and education to students, nurses and other health care providers. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications Position Requirements: Clinical Nurse Specialist - Education - Adult Critical Care (ICU, ED, and BMT) A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Colorado RN Advanced Practice Nurse, CPR, ACLS B. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Masters in Nursing required. C. Experience: 2 years recent experience in related clinical area (critical care), CNS experience preferred, 1 year of recent teaching experience preferred. D. Special Qualifications: Demonstrates good organizational skills, ability to plan and provide for delivery of education to nursing and non-nursing. Demonstrates knowledge and competence in working with interdisciplinary teams to ensure completion of projects. Must have effective verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to articulate and demonstrate knowledge of adult learning principles, nursing theory, nursing standards and practice and educational design and delivery. Proficiency in computer skills and presentation skills highly recommended. Strong critical thinking skills.
