SCHEDULE: Short hour, 18 hours/week, Day shift.
Week 1: Thursday 10am-7pm; Friday 10am-4pm; Saturday 8:30am-12:30pm
Week 2: Thursday 10am-7pm; Friday 10am-4pm; Sunday 8:30am-12:30pm
Position involves periodic change of schedule. Must be available to work evenings to 7:30pm, Saturdays and Sunday s (8:30am-12:30pm)
PREFERRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
Current California RN, NP license required.
Furnishing license preferred, must obtain within six months.
CPR and IV certification.
Must have a UPIN or be UPIN eligible which requires a Masters Degree in Nursing and current National Certification from one of the following organizations: American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; American Nurses Credentialing Center; National Certification Corporation for Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties; National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses.
JOB SUMMARY: As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the nurse practitioner will coordinate the care of chemically dependent patients in the Oakland CDRP. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the history and physical assessment, diagnosis, treatment plan and ongoing follow-up care for CD patients, as outlined in protocols and in consultation with the CDRP physicians. The care provided must be high quality, customer-focused and cost effective. This position reports to the CDRP Medical Director.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Registered Nurse Practitioner.
Successful completion of University of California Practitioner program or equivalent required.
Two years clinical experience, preferably in chemical dependency and psychiatry; detoxification experience highly desirable.
Familiarity with Co-occurring disorders issues preferred.
Familiarity with Chemical Dependency issues required.
Psychiatric Certificate preferred.
Bilingual skills preferred.
Legible handwriting and good record keeping qualities required.
Good oral and written English skills required.
Prior good attendance record required.
Must be able to determine lab results from urine lab.
Demonstrated good interpersonal relationship skills required.
Must be able to interact effectively with patients and co-workers, in a courteous manner.
Ability to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment.
Ability to work independently from approved protocols.
May be required to work holidays according to union contract.
DUTIES:
Manage out-patient detoxification, from sedative hypnotics, ETOH, narcotics, etc., using protocols.
Evaluate and assign patients for day treatment, as appropriate.
See return appointments and general medical visits as needed.
Evaluate and oversee lab results from toxicology lab.
Provide RNP care under MD supervision, triage, histories,
Physical assessment, crisis management and follow-up of medical illness among chemically dependent and dual diagnosis patients.
